Geoversity: Preserving Panama
The Project
Geoversity is a non-profit based in Panama, working to preserve the Manomi Rainforest. They wanted to do a rebrand in order to better articulate their mission, attract a younger demographic that is more socially-minded, and update their website to be mobile-friendly. Their team requested the natural spiral from the original logo be reinterpreted in the new logo and that the brand highlighted the unique beauty of Panama.

Worked in collaboration with Katherine Andersen for copy and messaging direction.
Note: Geoversity decided to not move forward with rebrand process.
Branding
The main request for the new branding was to blend two of the core components of the Geoversity mission: the beauty of nature and the importance of preservation. The shape that houses the main logo, and the logo-mark, is reminiscent of both a thumbprint and leaf representing the connection between humanity and nature. The color palette takes its inspiration directly from the environment in Panama. It’s rich, earthy, and natural, with pops of color used to call attention to specific design elements.
The Website
One of the main challenges of this project was taking a website built in plain HTML, with a lot of dispersed information, and creating a user-friendly experience where visitors could easily find important information like what Geoversity does, when events are taking place, and how to get involved. Because of the initial scope of work, a full rebuild was not possible so we settled for a robust splash page. Built using Squarespace, and with Katherine Andersen’s support on content, a clean, streamlined, user-friendly page was created to showcase what the future of Geoversity’s digital presence could look like.
Please note, as Geoversity did not choose to move forward with the project the landing page no longer exists in it’s web format.
Pitch It
As Geoversity was attempting to take a critical look at their digital presence, brand and how they talk about what they do, they were also in the process of pitching for major investors. Again, working with Katherine Andersen on developing content, I created a visually compelling pitch deck that emphasized the importance of the work Geoversity is doing in Panama.
